When it’s 90 degrees outside and 5 o’clock rolls around, I won’t lie to you, I crave a mint julep or a mojito.
But these flavored waters fill in perfectly during the week and keep me from a bad habit.
That 5 o’clock craving is really just for something refreshing and a little more exciting than plain water. Assembling these waters couldn’t be simpler, and you’ll be surprised at how much flavor they pack with no juice or sugar.
No need for a formal recipe here. For the lemon-mint water (my favorite): slice a lemon into thin slices and add them with a few sprigs of fresh mint to a pitcher of cold water.
For the Cucumber Lime Mint, follow the same procedure (optionally, you can cut the rind from the lime before slicing if you’re sensitive to bitterness). It’s fun to munch on the cucumber slices as you drink the water – they get so cold and crunchy!
Both of these waters are even better after a night in the fridge. You can just keep refilling the pitcher with water for a couple of days.
Do you make similar flavored waters? If so, I’d love to hear about them in the comments.
