So often, vacations are made up of crammed itineraries, hard-trodden tourist paths, stark hotel rooms and too much eating out. We prefer to travel a little differently.
Our favorite way to travel is to stay a little longer in each place we visit, and try (as best as possible) to understand what it's like to live there.
You will always be a tourist or a foreigner to some extent, but the simple act of shopping at farmers markets and local purveyors to cook in your own apartment makes you feel more like a local. And running into the same people at these places is priceless. Even worth missing the biggest tourist attractions (though you should make time for that too).
On to the travels...
Paris
I've always dreamed of spending time in Paris and years ago, we went on a quick vacation for a week in Paris but that didn't quite satiate my desire. So we went back, this time for a month, staying in an apartment in a neighborhood. It was glorious! Below you'll find a link to all of our posts while in Paris, heavy on food. 🙂 And we wrote a travel guide to help you plan your trip to Paris.

Italy
Keith and I were lucky enough to spend 65 days traveling around Italy, in that time I wrote a post every day about the location, food and generally what it feels like to be in Italy. We also wrote a travel guide to help you plan your trip. Enjoy!
